The Chairman of the Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Aliyu Musa, has confirmed that all preparations have been finalised for the commencement of the 2025 Hajj airlift to Saudi Arabia, scheduled to begin on May 9.

Addressing journalists at the agency’s headquarters, Musa stated that over 60 percent of necessary visas had already been secured for the state’s intending pilgrims, totalling 2,810 across 23 local government areas.

“The airlift is scheduled to commence on May 9, by the National Hajj Commission, and Insha Allah, Sokoto state will begin on that day,” Musa said.

He announced that a Saudi Arabian airline has been designated as the official carrier for Sokoto pilgrims.

The Chairman also revealed that medical screenings for pilgrims began on Saturday, emphasising the importance of health and safety.

Musa further disclosed the state’s plan to allow pilgrims to pay their Hadaya (sacrificial offering) in naira before departure, in response to the limited $500 basic travel allowance allocated to each pilgrim.

He added that the alternative payment in Riyals upon arrival in Saudi Arabia will also be available.

He urged all intending pilgrims to cooperate with the designated committees to ensure a smooth and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage.
