FCTA Budgets N800M For PHC Facilities In 2020

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) said it has provided a total sum of about N800 million for the development of Primary Health Care (PHC) facilities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the 2020 budget.

Minister of state for the FCT, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, disclosed this yesterday, during the official flag off of the National Integrated Mobile Outreach Programme (I-MOP), by Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, in Bwari area council.

Aliyu added that other areas covered by the 2020 budget included,  N500 million, for reproductive health, integrated management of childhood illnesses and nutrition, N600 million for human resources for health and over N 700 million, for essential medicines, immunization, vaccines and technology.

The minister, however stated that the sources of funding included the FCT Appropriation Act of 2020, the Saving One Million Lives Program for Results and the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF).

She stated that the reinvigorated FCT Health Insurance Scheme (FHIS), has placed the administration on the path of achieving the Universal Health Coverage, adding that the administration, in partnership with benefitting communities, has taken the challenge of providing residents, particularly women and children, with good quality, high impact primary health care services, including immunisation and nutrition activities.

Speaking earlier, the chairman of Bwari area council, Hon. John Gabaya, advised residents of the council to key into the I- MOPinitiative, to strengthen health care services and improve the health of their children.
