Human Resources (HR) play a key role in developing, reinforcing and changing the culture of an organisation.
Pay, performance management, training and development, recruitment and onboarding and reinforcing the values of the business are all essential elements of business culture covered by HR.
Human resource management (HRM) can be defined as the effective management of people in an organisation. HR management helps bridge the gap between employees’ performance and the organisation’s strategic objectives. Moreover, an efficient HR management team can give firms an edge over their competition.
A business management expert, Dr Timi Olubiyi, said human resources is important to organizations in myriad areas, ranging from strategic planning to company image.
He said that HR practitioners in a small business who have well-rounded expertise provide a number of services to employees, saying that the areas in which HR maintains control can enhance an employees’ experience throughout the workforce while strengthening business operations.
“HR management helps in bridging the gap between employees’ performance and how the organization achieve their initial objectives. We can say human resources are the people involved in a business or organization, regarded as a significant asset in terms of skills and abilities. Human resource management is therefore the effective management of the people in an organisation.
“An effective HR management can give firms an edge over the competition, because these HR managers are responsible for everything relating to human beings, and human beings form a huge percentage of a company’s success,” he said.

Benefits of HR development, Olubiyi said “effective HR development programs provide support for current and future employee development. This ensures organizational effectiveness by ensuring that employees get new employee orientation, performance support to complete tasks successfully and formal education to improve productivity.
“HR personnel analyze employee needs, design and develop or purchase relevant training courses, implement support systems and evaluate the effectiveness and business impact of learning solutions. HR development professionals enable continued success. HR development programs also help organizations comply with local, state and federal regulations.”
Importance Of HR In An Organisation
Recruitment; the recruitment of new employees can contribute towards the longevity of any business. Recruiting new employees is a lengthy process. It is associated with advertising new job postings, sourcing potential candidates, screening the applicants, conducting interviews in the preliminary stage and coordinating with the managers who are responsible for making the final decision.
Establishing relationships with employees; the HR department is responsible for maintaining relationships with employees in a unionized work environment. It also focuses on strengthening the relationships among employees. As a result, the HR department is in a position to resolve all sorts of conflicts that arise within the organization.
Ensuring the safety of employees; it is extremely important for all the organizations to pay special attention towards workplace safety.
