The chief executive officer and founder of the HeedtoHeels fashion brand in Nigeria, Uche Agomoh has crafted her unique identity through her designs and creative style of work.

Speaking in an interview recently, Uche Agomoh offers a peek into her world, delving into the inspirations fuelling her fashion empire, the profound influence of her faith on her creations, her resilience against online commentary, the challenges of design replication, and a glimpse into her personal sphere.

Uche Agomoh grew up in the bustling city of Jos, Nigeria, surrounded by the aura of medicine thanks to her parents’ prestigious professions. Yet, amidst the clinical corridors, Uche’s heart danced to a different rhythm—one adorned with threads of creativity and style.
Born to a pharmacist father and doctor mother, Uche’s time studying at the University of Jos revealed her growing love for fashion. Her unique style and grace not only made her stand out but also won her the prestigious Miss NYSC title, showing how naturally talented she was in fashion.
“It was during my university days that I discovered my love for fashion,” Uche fondly recalls, reminiscing about her formative years.
After graduating from the university, Uche felt a strong desire to use her creativity in fashion to make a bigger difference in society.
“After my service days, I felt a deeper need to contribute through my creativity,” Uche said.
Convincing her father, a pharmacist about her passion for fashion was no simple feat. She said, “My dad wasn’t quite convinced fashion was worth pursuing.’’
But with strong confidence in herself and a determined attitude to work hard, Uche faced these challenges and worked her own way in the fashion industry.
“Believing in myself and working hard were my stepping stones,” Uche affirms, acknowledging her journey’s trials.
Faith remains a cornerstone in Uche’s life— A pillar of strength in her life, especially with her growing fashion career. “Heaven is my ultimate goal,” she emphasizes, pointing out how important her faith is in her endeavours.
When asked how she feels about imitations and people recreating her designs, Uche remains unbothered in her belief in originality within the fashion realm. “I believe in the uniqueness of my creations. Like they say, ‘If it’s not ‘Panadol’, it can’t be the same as Panadol,” she jokes, showing her confidence.
Uche sees fashion as her way to be artistic. She carefully pictures her designs and take her time to draw them out as sketches before bringing them into live.
“I draw my designs to show clients why they’re valuable,” she explains, adding a personal touch to her work.
Uche doesn’t let criticism bother her much.
“I pay no attention to opinions unless they’re brought to me directly,” she says casually.
Looking ahead, Uche dreams of making her brand famous worldwide for its uniqueness and originality.
“I aspire for my brand to be recognized globally for its unique essence,” she shares her grand vision.
Her advice to new designers is simple but powerful.
“Let your passion guide you. Challenges will come, but loving what you do will help you through,” she encourages, speaking from her own experience.
Uche Agomoh’s journey shows a mix of passion, strength, and determination— a story that reflects chasing dreams in the world of fashion. Her story is like a song that inspires others starting their own journey in design.
