FG To Train Artisans In Building Sector

The  minister of housing and urban development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa has disclosed that his ministry plans to   train artisans in the building sector to improve their capabilities.

A press statement signed by the director of information, Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Badamasi Haiba, reveal ed that the minister made the disclosure in Abuja while inspecting the ministry’s Training Institute for Artisans in the building sector located in the Kuje area council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Dangiwa said the training, when started, would empower and enable Artisans to acquire robust skills in the building sector. He added that participants across the 36 states of the federation would be drawn from selected artisans such as carpenters, welders, plumbers as well as masons, electricians and painters.

While emphasising that artisans in the building industry and the economy at large contributes largely to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the renowned architect also expressed satisfaction with the facilities on ground and called for necessary arrangements to complete the work in all the blocks of the Institute so that training would be conducted on quarterly basis.

Earlier, the minister inspected work at the site for the proposed Renewed Hope City at Karsana Estate Phase 3 in Abuja which  President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is expected to do the ground breaking in a few weeks time. The minister was accompanied by the minister of state, Abdullahi Gwarzo, permanent secretary, Dr Marcus Ogunbiyi, and some directors in the ministry.
