The MTN Foundation has partnered the Beeta Universal Arts Foundation to empower young Nigerians at its just concluded edition of the Beeta Playwright Competition which saw the top ten finalists compete for the winning prize.

The event, which was held on February 7, 2024, provided a platform for budding playwrights to display their literary prowess.

The organisers aim to nurture emerging playwrights, encouraging them to tell authentic indigenous stories and showcase dynamic Nigerian writing talent. This year’s edition, unlike the previous years, had 40 selected candidates as against ten candidates formerly selected annually.

In a remarkable victory, Olaide Mohammed, a native of Kwara with roots in Lagos, clinched the coveted title in the sixth Beeta Playwright Competition. Her exceptional talent and dedication have now been recognised as she emerged victorious, claiming a host of incredible prizes, including a $3,000 cheque, a laptop, and other valuable rewards.

Speaking at the event, the executive director of the MTN Foundation, Mrs. Odunayo Sanya, emphasised the need to commit to art and culture in Nigeria.
