Every time a fashion designer releases a collection, a lot of its fans would definitely want to purchase a piece or two from the collection and this is often as a result of the beauty, simplicity, uniqueness or price range which the brand had succeeded in using to win and subsequently retain the customer. TradWest Couture is a brand that seeks to increase its brand loyalist through designs that communicates with the wearer and the beholders of the designs. We got to see the various designs in the collections and we can say that it did deliver in the aspects of simplicity.
TradWest recently released The Urbane Belle Collection which is said to be designed for the Urban woman who seeks to find a balance between the vintage and the modern for her corporate or professional leanings. Urbane Belle has different designs that were crafted from various mixed fabrics like Ankara, Chiffon, Silk, Cotton, Crepe, Organza and Corduroy. Each piece in the collection was designed as a way to constantly give an added airs of grace to the wearer. The suit skirts were in various designs such as pleats, wrap around, pencil, flared amongst other designs curated by the co-founders, Blessing Ajilo (Lead designer and Illustrator) and Joy Chiukwumuzie (Creative Director). Also, the tops had unique shapes and patterns on them while some were plain fabrics. There were also gowns amongst the design in the collection and these had gowns for all body sizes including Plus sizes. The gowns are made in various designs such as bodycon, A-Line, Asymmetrical dresses to mention a few. However, the various pieces in the collection were not made as a one-size-fit-all. Buyers can choose from small, medium, Medium Large, Large, Extra Large and Double Extra Large.
In the realm of fashion design, the dynamic contributions of Blessing Ajilo and Joy Chiukwumuzie to TradWest Couture cannot be overstated. As the lead designer, Blessing Ajilo brings each piece to life with her keen eye for detail and innovative vision, ensuring that every garment resonates with the elegance and sophistication intended for the Urbane Belle Collection. Her prowess as a fashion illustrator is evident in the intricate sketches that guide the creation of each unique design, blending vintage charm with contemporary flair. Complementing Ajilo’s artistic talent, Joy Chiukwumuzie, the creative director, orchestrates the overall aesthetic and direction of the collection. Her strategic insights and creative acumen ensure that each piece not only stands out individually but also contributes to a cohesive, harmonious collection.
The designs in the collections boasts of numerous colors such as Olive Green, Mustard Yellow, Muted Gold, Baby Purple and so many other bright but muted colors. It is said that colors often boost one’s mood, thinking and decision making hence the use of some of these colors were meant to evoke warmth, creativity, dignity and even wisdom that some of these colors evoke. The designers further explained that their choices of fabrics and colors were based on the fact that most ladies are often in a twist over the color combination of their office wears and the desire to find a balance between casuals and strictly professional wears. It is believed that the designs, colors and fabrics would help the customers solve or at least reduce the limitations of choice, colors and suitability for body sizes. We like the fact that the buyers are spoiled from the number of designs, styles and fabrics.
We believe that the brand should have left the plus size designs for someone who can truly relate and this is because some people have different body shapes in addition to being plus sized and this has made it difficult for them to shop for clothes. The brand can also consider releasing a whole collection for Plus size people for inclusion or partner with Brands that make these so as to bring their designs to Plus size people too as I believe that the colors, designs and fabric choice will be equally acceptable by Plus Sized people.
