Jambo has been one of the fastest growing smartphone companies in the continent – popular because of its accessibility and providing users earn opportunities through decentralised technology. The recent unveiling of the JamboPhone 2 now features advanced AI capabilities to the mix – will this bring the AI revolution to Africa?
What is Jambo Doing?
Jambo aims to provide access to the latest technologies with its novel phone product, priced at just $99 and selling in 120+ countries this year. This smartphone serves as both a daily use phone and a gateway to earn opportunities, now integrated with advanced AI features designed to enhance user experience in the JamboPhone 2.
The JamboPhone 2: Now integrated with AI
Each JamboPhone 2 comes pre-installed with essential applications from top industry partners, providing users immediate access and income opportunities. But now these features will be even more powerful with new AI integrations: JamboGPT: JamboGPT is the cornerstone of AI interactions for JamboPhone users. This advanced feature offers real-time analytics and data insights, enabling users to make informed decisions based on predictive insights. By harnessing AI capabilities, JamboGPT aims to democratise access to essential information, ensuring that even those in remote areas can benefit from advanced analytics; Apps like AirQ AI: Jambo will be launching AI apps direct on the phone that will have a positive impact on its users. One of these is AirQ AI (airqai.org) – Developed by Jordan Ren, an Applied Machine Learning intern at Jambo who’s taking his environmental experience as a One Planet Ambassador at The Nature Conservancy. AirQ AI uses AI for pollution monitoring, leveraging computer vision technology to analyse the real time air quality around the world. This is particularly impactful for emerging markets where AirQ AI removes the need for installed physical sensors. And just as importantly AirQ AI provides wildlife organisations the advanced intel to conduct pre-emptive operations on conservation.
“Working on AirQ AI has been incredibly rewarding. Our goal is to help people live healthier lives by providing intelligent monitoring of air quality,” said Jordan Ren. “We’re creating opportunities for everyone to engage with technology that can improve their daily lives.”
Collaborations with Leading AI Firms: Jambo is partnering with companies like LoveAI, which is developing a sophisticated no-code AI engine that allows users to build and deploy applications easily. Alongside top researchers from Harvard and MIT, LoveAI recruits top AI minds to collaborate on bleeding edge workflows. This will accelerate the new mobile AI use cases.
Will Jambo unlock the AI revolution for the continent? The launch of the JamboPhone 2 certainly makes AI much more accessible for the everyday person. With its focus on affordability and inclusivity, particularly through its AI features like AirQ AI and JamboGPT, Jambo is not just transforming the smartphone market; it’s paving the way for a more equitable digital future.
