Dr. Dayo Mobereola, Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), has called for innovative financing models to support the sustainable growth of Africa’s maritime sector.
Speaking at the 7th Association of African Maritime Administrations (AAMA) Conference in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Mobereola highlighted Nigeria’s commitment to advancing maritime safety, security, and environmental sustainability.
“Nigeria is dedicated to collaborating on technology and innovation to drive maritime safety and decarbonization,” Mobereola said, urging regional and international partners to support the country’s infrastructure and digital transformation efforts. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation to combat piracy and maritime crime in West Africa.
The AAMA conference serves as a platform for African maritime nations to align on key issues, with Nigeria playing a pivotal role in advancing the African Maritime Transport Charter.
