The Jigawa government has approved N15.8 billion for execution viable basic education programme to enhance access to free quality education in the state.
Mr Sagir Musa, Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, said this on Wednesday in Dutse.
He said the State Executive Council (SEC) had approved the fund to fasttrack implementation of the Jigawa Unified New Improvement of Teaching and Education (Jigawa UNITE) programme.
Musa the programme was designed to encourage deployment of innovative technology and data-driven platform for high-quality learning materials during the 2024-2026 academic sessions.
“It will deploy effective training for teachers and technology enabled support teams, to create support and drastic improvement in learning outcomes in the state.
“This is part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the state government and New Globe Education Services Limited, for transformation of primary education, with a 30 per cent mobilisation of N4.7 billion, ” he said.
Musa said the council also approved disbursement of N839 million donations to the 210 families affected by Majia tanker explosion.
The commissioner said the SEC further approved guidelines for the implementation of the Alternative Care for Children (ACC) programme, to ensure social protection of vulnerable persons and children.
