The federal government spends about $120 per person annually on healthcare, but Health Minister Mohammed Ali Pate disclosed that only $30 of this comes from government funding while households bear the remaining two-thirds, a financing gap he said has left the system severely underfunded and reflected in poor health outcomes across the country, adding that despite four million new insurance enrollments over the past 18 months, only 5 per cent of Nigerians currently have health insurance coverage.
