The Forum of Small Farmers Association in Nigeria has commended the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC), Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani, for championing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agricultural vision.
In a statement signed on Tuesday by its Secretary, Mr Taopheek Babajide, the Forum said Nigerians have long expected NAIC to deliver reliable and robust insurance products tailored to the needs of smallholder farmers, women-led agribusinesses, and youth cooperatives.
The group noted that farmers look forward to an insurance agency that is efficient, transparent, and responsive. They expect prompt payment of claims for losses caused by natural disasters, pest attacks, and crop diseases, as well as expanded coverage for farming communities that have been previously overlooked.
According to the Forum, Danfulani has not disappointed since assuming office. His leadership, they said, has already ushered in significant improvements in service delivery and internal operations.
A major highlight of his reforms is the prioritisation of digital transformation. Under his direction, NAIC has begun digitising key processes such as policy enrolment, claims processing, and farmer outreach. These innovations are designed to boost efficiency, promote transparency, and make NAIC’s services more accessible nationwide.
The statement also praised the strengthening of NAIC’s governance structures and the renewed focus on institutional reforms.
Through targeted staff training, improved accountability systems, and broader human capacity development, Danfulani has laid a strong foundation for a more effective and farmer-centred organisation.
“These reforms have brought systematic positivity and transformative changes to NAIC,” the Forum said. “Farmers across the country are now experiencing a more transparent, faster, and customer-focused insurance system.”
The Forum added that Danfulani’s leadership aligns strongly with President Tinubu’s agricultural agenda, which seeks to enhance resilience, boost productivity, and support sustainable growth within Nigeria’s farming communities.
It reaffirmed its support for NAIC’s ongoing reforms and expressed confidence that continued efforts under Danfulani’s leadership will further strengthen the agricultural value chain and improve the livelihoods of millions of farmers.
