The Jigawa State House of Assembly has passed the N901.84 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill for the state government, with minor amendments.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the bill was approved on Tuesday following the adoption of the report of the House Standing Committee on Appropriation at plenary, presided over by the Speaker, Haruna Aliyu, in Dutse.
Presenting the report, the committee chairman, Mr Ibrahim Hamza, said standing committees had engaged ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) on the assessment and defence of their budget proposals.
Hamza said the assembly was satisfied with allocations targeted at infrastructure development and the provision of social amenities in the 2026 fiscal year.
The assembly also approved N288.848 billion as statutory allocation for the 27 local government councils in the state.
He urged the Ministry for Local Government to ensure council chairmen strictly implement their budgets to improve the welfare of rural communities.
NAN recalled that Governor Umar Namadi presented the N901.84 billion 2026 budget proposal to the assembly on Nov. 25 for consideration and approval.
