The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) says the average retail price of petrol declined to N1,061.35 per litre in November 2025, reflecting easing fuel costs compared with the same period last year.
In its Petrol Price Watch for November 2025 released in Abuja on Wednesday, the NBS said the figure represents a 12.59 per cent drop from N1,214.17 recorded in November 2024. On a month-on-month basis, however, the average price edged up by 0.86 per cent from N1,052.31 in October 2025.
State-level data showed that motorists in Borno paid the highest average price at N1,133.86 per litre, followed by Sokoto at N1,118.83 and Kogi at N1,111.00. Oyo recorded the lowest average price at N997.39, while Nasarawa and Lagos followed at N1,015.12 and N1,021.14, respectively.
By zone, the North-East recorded the highest average petrol price at N1,084.04 per litre, while the South-West had the lowest at N1,036.12.
The NBS also reported a moderation in diesel prices. According to its Diesel Price Watch for November 2025, the average retail price stood at N1,409.61 per litre, representing a 2.57 per cent decline from N1,446.83 in November 2024. Month-on-month, the price rose slightly by 0.79 per cent from N1,398.57 in October.
Diesel sold highest in Niger State at N1,477.57 per litre, followed by Jigawa at N1,477.31 and Enugu at N1,468.29. Kebbi recorded the lowest price at N1,308.94, with Katsina and Nasarawa at N1,315.78 and N1,325.29, respectively.
Zonal analysis showed the South-East recorded the highest average diesel price at N1,419.34 per litre, while the South-South posted the lowest at N1,400.58.
