Former vice president of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has called for inclusive pathway to unlock dormant assets for sustainability of real estate infrastructure even as he joins stakeholders and players in private sector to lead conversations to deepen collaborations and drive inclusive infrastructure for sustainable national housing outcomes.
Osinbajo, who delivered the keynote address at the 2026 WEMABOD Real Estate Outlook Conference, with stakeholders drawn from Rehoovoot, a real estate investment and property consultancy firm underscored the national importance of returning to deliberate, state-led planning and infrastructure-driven development as the pathway to inclusive housing.
The conference, themed: “Unlocking Land and Infrastructure for Inclusive Housing: A Regional Agenda for Sustainable Urban Growth,” convened policymakers, developers, investors, and industry experts to address one of Nigeria’s most pressing challenges: access to land, infrastructure, and sustainable housing solutions.
In his keynote address, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, drew extensively from the historic Bodija Estate development in Ibadan as a model for inclusive, infrastructure-led housing. “Bodija’s most radical achievement was its deliberate social mix,” he said.
He said the estate accommodated everyone from middle-income earners, and larger homes for senior professionals, without segregation.
Osinbajo said social integration was designed, not accidental. “Infrastructure was as a public good, not a private burden, quietly subsidising affordability by reducing the cost of living for residents who did not have to self-provide basic services,” he stated.
Professor Osinbajo further contrasted this with contemporary housing developments, noting that while modern private estates have rediscovered the infrastructure-first principle, they remain expensive precisely because infrastructure costs are internalised and capitalised into house prices, making inclusion structurally impossible.
The stakeholders and private sector players identified the need to unlock dormant land assets to drive Inclusive Infrastructure for sustainable housing outcomes.
Echoing his perspective on the conference’s theme, the firm’s managing partner, Akinbinu Samuel, emphasised the need for intentional, long-term thinking in Nigeria’s real estate ecosystem: “Land and infrastructure are the foundation of sustainable housing, but unlocking them requires more than capital, it demands vision, structure, and responsible advisory,” he stated.
The firm’s managing partner, Akinbinu Samuel, was in attendance, actively contributing to critical conversations on how private-sector players can collaborate with government and stakeholders to unlock dormant land assets and translate infrastructure investments into inclusive housing outcomes.
“At Rehoovoot, we are deliberate about identifying viable land assets, guiding investors through compliant land banking strategies, and supporting developments that align with infrastructure realities. Inclusive housing will only be achieved when land access, planning, and investment are approached holistically,” he said.

Rehoovoot’s work across strategic land acquisition, advisory, and property management reflects a growing commitment to de-risking real estate investment, improving land transparency, and enabling developments that respond to Nigeria’s evolving urban and housing needs. By bridging investor confidence with sound land intelligence and market foresight, the firm continues to play a role in shaping sustainable real estate outcomes.

Their participation at the 2026 edition reinforced its positioning as a forward-thinking real estate consultancy, actively engaged in shaping conversations around land access, infrastructure-led development, and inclusive housing delivery in Nigeria.
