Riri community in Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State has appealed to the State Government to construct the road linking the community with other communities in order to boost their agricultural and socio-economic activities and for an improved standard of living.
Namadi Abdullahi, who is the leader of the delegation made the appeal yesterday in Lafia, when the community paid a courtesy call on Dr. Peter Akwe, member representing Obi 1 constituency at the state house of assembly.
He said that if the state government constructs their road, it would go a long way in not only boosting their agricultural and socio-economic activities but would also improve on their standard of living.
Abdullahi said that the visit was aimed at reassuring the lawmaker of the community support and prayers to enable him to succeed in the task ahead.
“The time of politicking is over, we are here to identify with you and to assure you of our support as you are our representative to enable you to succeed in the task ahead of you.
“We are also here to appeal to you to table our request on the creation of Riri Chiefdom to the state government in order to give us a sense of belonging.
“We are appealing for the construction of our road as many of our people are farmers and this will help them to transport their agricultural produce to neighbouring markets.
“As the construction of Riri road will also help in boosting our transport system and our standard of living,” he said.
The community also appealed for the provision of refrigerator and generator to their Primary HealthCare clinic in order to save immunization vaccines for days.
The leader of the delegation assured the state government of their support at all times in order to enjoy more dividends of democracy.
Responding, Akwe (PDP), appreciated them for the visit and assured them of his commitment to key into people-oriented projects for development to thrive.
