Guards Polo Club Flags Off 2025 National Carnival Tournament In Abuja

The Guards Polo Club Abuja has commenced its 2025 National Carnival Polo Tournament at the Guards Polo Club/Nigerian Army Polo Resort, Mambilla Barracks, Abuja.

 

According to the organisers, the annual event, which blends sport, culture and social interaction, features more than 40 teams competing for four major championship cups and several special trophies.

Top teams, including Rubicon, Mangal Cement, STL and Malcomines, will contest the President Cup, the tournament’s highest prize.

President of the club, Senator Dauda Halliru Jika, said the tournament remains a unifying event for the polo community. He noted that the support of members and partners has helped sustain a vibrant atmosphere that attracts families, professionals and long-time followers of the sport.

The tournament, which runs from December 1 to 14, will see players compete for the President’s Cup, FCT Minister’s Cup, Legislative Shield, and Low Cup. Additional trophies include the COAS Cup, the Argentine Ambassador’s Cup, the Dauwle Baba Memorial Cup, and the El-Amin Cup for youth players.

Tournament Manager, Ahmed Aminu, said this year’s sponsorship strategy is aimed at delivering substantial value and long-term brand engagement for partners. Sponsors include Jaiz Bank, Mangal Cement, FSDH, Niger Foods, Kabba Doors, Vento Furniture, Nexim, KSH Foundation, STL, Pop Cola, Noella Foundation, Afdin Petroleum, Abab Nig Ltd, Max Air and Samu, among others. Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Diko, is expected to attend.
