The Forum of Arewa Good Governance(AFGG ),has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for directing the Minister of State for Defence, Dr Muhammad Bello Matawalle, to immediately relocate to Kebbi State following the abduction of schoolgirls.

The group said the President’s directive demonstrated strong leadership, urgency, and an unwavering commitment to protecting Nigerian children.

In a statement by its Secretary, Ilyas Yusuf Abubakar, the Forum said Tinubu’s action came at a critical moment.

“We commend President Tinubu for showing decisive leadership at a critical time. Sending Dr Matawalle to Kebbi is the right step to ensure that the abducted girls are rescued safely and swiftly,” Abubakar said.

The Forum noted that Matawalle’s experience in governance and security would be key in coordinating the rescue efforts.

It recalled that when Matawalle served as Governor of Zamfara in 2019, similar abductions occurred, yet his administration secured the release of students without risking their lives.

“We are confident he will replicate this success in Kebbi,” the statement added.

The group expressed hope that with Matawalle on the ground, security agencies would intensify operations, arrest the perpetrators, and ensure the safe return of the girls.

It urged communities to remain calm and support the ongoing rescue efforts.

“We expressed optimism that the schoolgirls would be rescued quickly, restoring peace to the affected communities.”
