Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi state has granted approval for the release of N872,361,631 as state’s counterpart funding to Primary Healthcare basket.
The deputy governor of the state, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Auwal Jatau, disclosed this at the meeting of the State Task Force on Primary Healthcare and the award presentation held at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Bauchi.
Auwal Jatau said at the moment, the sum of N261,708,491.00 has been released to the Bauchi PHC Board as part of the unwavering commitment of the state government towards expanding access to quality healthcare services, improving health infrastructure, supporting frontline workers to ensure citizens regardless of location or status, receives the needed healthcare services.
“In our meeting today, we will review the progress achieved in the implementation of the agreed action points from the Annual Primary Health Care Retreat, to update members on the Quarter 1, 2025 PHC Annual Operational Plan and to update members on the upcoming April 2025 National Immunisation Polio Days (NIPDs).
“I want to expressing my deepest gratitude to all the health workers, local government health teams, facility managers, and community volunteers who have worked tirelessly and passionately to ensure that healthcare delivery in our state continues to improve steadily. Your dedication is the backbone of our progress in primary healthcare.
“Today’s awards are a token of our immense appreciation to all the recipients. As a Government, we will continue to bring laudable programs and investments that will improve the health and well-being of our citizens in both rural and urban areas with emphasis on women and children.”
The deputy governor reassured that the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed, will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that necessary funding are provided in an efforts to achieve Universal Health Coverage in the state.
He, therefore, appreciated development partners for their technical support, financial contributions, and collaborative efforts which have significantly strengthened the state’s healthcare system and emphasised the need for renewed commitment towards building a healthier Bauchi State.
On his part, the co-chair of the State Task Force Committee on Primary Health Care and Emir of Dass, Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman, expressed appreciation on the milestones achieved in the implementation of health programmes in the state.
