Arewa Agricultural Forum has commended the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC),Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani for what they described as a remarkable start in his first 100 days in office.

They noted that Danfulani has set a clear direction for the agency, aligning NAIC’s programmes with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agricultural Agenda, which prioritises food security, irrigation expansion and mechanised farming.

In a statement issued in Abuja, the Chairman of the group, Prof.Hassan Muhammed praised his hands-on approach to agricultural transformation, citing his efforts to revive the agency’s institutional strength, strengthen partnerships with state governments and attract private sector investments into irrigation and mechanisation.

“Yazid Danfulani has, in just 100 days, demonstrated that leadership built on vision and integrity can reposition NAIC as a key player in national development,” the group said.

“His drive to expand irrigable land, support farmers and introduce modern agricultural practices is in direct harmony with President Tinubu’s agricultural policy.”

They also lauded his focus on transparency, youth empowerment and women’s participation in agriculture, pointing to ongoing training programmes and farmer-support initiatives introduced under his watch.

According to the northern leaders, Danfulani’s reforms are already giving farmers new confidence and laying the foundation for a long-term agricultural revolution across Nigeria.

They urged him to sustain the momentum by scaling up NAIC’s projects across the six geopolitical zones, ensuring that rural communities and farming cooperatives fully benefit from irrigation and agricultural development.

“Northern Nigeria, and indeed the nation at large, is proud of Dr Yazid Danfulani’s achievements in such a short period,” the statement added.

“His early strides give us confidence that NAIC under his leadership will play a central role in tackling food insecurity and boosting agricultural productivity.”
