The Ogun 1 Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has impounded three exotic cars, including a 2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost with a duty paid value of N905m

Also seized by the Command include a 2014 4matic Benz with a duty paid value of N21,423,400 and 2018 model of Honda Accord with a duty paid value of N32,200,000.
Other contrabands seized by the Command also included 4,424 bags of foreign parboiled rice which is over 7 truckloads, 1,936 parcels of cannabis sativa, commonly known as marijuana, 105 used tyres with the total duty paid value for all the seizures standing at N1,401,531,923.95.

Ogun 1 Area Command Controller, Comptroller Godwin Otunla disclosed this at a briefing held in Idiroko on Thursday.

He explained that, “In addition to these anti-smuggling feats, the Command also in July 2025, generated a total revenue of N45,054,191.00, which is higher than the 35,327,852.00 recorded in the corresponding month of 2024. representing a commendable increase of 27.47%.

“This remarkable growth is a reflection of our enhanced compliance drive, improved monitoring of border activities and robust stakeholder engagement.”

In line with the inter-agency collaboration framework, Otunla also handed over the illicit drugs seized to the Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Idiroko Special Command, Ekundayo Williams for further investigation and necessary action.

Otunla however reiterated that the fight against smuggling remains a collective responsibility assuring that the Command would continue to build on collaboration, intelligence sharing, and innovation, in line with the policy thrust of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi who has been consistent in his drive for consolidation, collaboration, and innovation.

The Controller equally warned smugglers and their collaborators, pledging that the command will not relent in its crackdown against the economic saboteurs.

He said “We remain vigilant, resolute, and unyielding. No matter the sophistication of your tricks, our officers will continue to thwart your antics, and we shall bring the full weight of the law against you.”

Otunla commended operatives of the Command for their resilience and dedication while also appreciating the support of other security agencies as well as the cooperation of patriotic members of the border communities who continue to provide credible intelligence to aid the command’s operations.
