The minister of labour and employment, Dr Chris Ngige, has identified the diversification of the leadership of Association of Senior Staff of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions (ASSBIFI) into agriculture as great encouragement that will save the association from dependence on checkup dues.
Ngige, who was represented by Controller, federal ministry of Labour and Employment Lagos State, Comrade Nnamdi Enuah, who made this known when he commissioned ASSBIFI Multipurpose Suites and Events Centre, at Alausa, said, the step taken by ASSBIFI in having a large multipurpose suites and events centre at the heart of Lagos Business District, apart from going into farming, will make the association remains jobs creator.
“This centre is a product of sincere leadership, prudent, and accountability which will be a good legecy for this union and act as encouragment to other unions,” he said.
Similarly, ASSBIFI president, Comrade Oyinkan Olasanoye, in her welcome address, said the centre will create at least 50 additional jobs. She said the construction of centre was made possible by the cooperation from members as ASSBIFI did not take any loan for the start and completion of the centre.
“ASSBIFI Suites and Events Centre was designed to provide Accommodation, Spa, Boardrooms, Conference Halls and Relaxation place for stakeholders. It will create direct and indirect employment opportunity for over 50 Nigerians when fully operational. It is an income source diversification strategy,” she stressed.
