Dr Abiso Kabir is the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Wal-Wanne Group, one of the leading Agro-Allied based companies in Borno State, with head office in Lagos and Abuja.
Wal-Wanne embraced the Federal Government of Nigeria’s Anchor Borrowers Programme (ABP) which was launched in Gongolum LGA of the state by the immediate past Governor of Borno State, Alhaji Kashim Shettima as flag-off of the commencement of the mass rice production by peasant farmers in the state.
Today, he is a proud stakeholder in showcasing the agricultural policy of the President Muhammadu Buhari Administration using the ABP as launch-pad, where participants are provided with farming implements, fertilizer, seedling and insecticide at highly subsidized rates.
In 2017, in spite of combined negative forces of insurgents’ attack, drought and pest infestation which ravaged some of the plantations, Kabir was able to mobilise more than 18,000 farmers across the Borno State and provided them with funding, expertise and mechanization so as to yield positive outcome through the anchor borrowers programme of the central bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Bank of Agriculture ( BOA).
In 2018, sequel to the bumper harvest recorded during the cropping season, a pyramid was constructed and unveiled with 36,000 bags of paddy harvested.
Today, not less than 13,000 farmers are currently registered with about 705 farm owners enlisted to participate in the Anchor Borrowers Programme under the platform of Wal-Wanne & Sons Limited regulated by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Born on October 13, 1972 and at just 48 years, Dr. Abiso Kabir has five academic laurels to his credit, among which is a doctorate degree in Entrepreneurship Management from Oxford University, Namibia. He is also a holder of two Masters Degrees in ICT and Business Administration/Management, a Bachelor of Science in Economics, as well as National and Higher National Diplomas in Town, Urban and Regional Planning respectively.
A man of peerless accomplishments, Kabir is a receiver of several fellowships and honours from professional bodies in Nigeria and beyond, among which are: England Institute of World Chartered Economists, 2017; Africa Institute of Chartered Entrepreneurship Management 2017; Institute of Global Communication & D Diplomacy, 2014; Institute of Chartered Economists of Ghana, 2013; and Associate Member, Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria 2006.
He received award from institute of chartered of Economist in 2013 and a Doctoral fellow of institute of chartered economist. He is a recipient of the Merit Award of the Institute of Treasury Management & Financial Accountants, 2013. A seasoned public servant, Kabir started his career at the Town Planning Zonal Office, Maiduguri, where he did his 4 months Industrial Training Fund in 1992.
