The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said the Presidential Initiative to deploy Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) mass transit buses is expected to cause a reduction of over 50 per cent in transport costs.
Idris urged Nigerians to view this initiative as a relief to alleviate economic challenges stemming from subsidy removal, part of impactful interventions including a Students’ Loan Scheme and various low-interest loan schemes for businesses.
He emphasized the coordinated effort among relevant Ministries and Agencies of the federal government to tackle inflation, stabilize foreign exchange rates, and create a supportive business and investment climate. Reacting to controversies about the relocation of CBN departments and FAAN’s headquarters, Idris advised citizens to see the move as pragmatic steps for operational efficiency, not political actions to marginalize any section of the country.
Idris stressed the need for a united Nigeria and warned against false and inciting claims that could threaten unity. He urged Nigerians to stand together against forces seeking to test and break the bonds holding the nation, emphasizing that building the Nigeria of dreams is a collective effort.
