The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has called on its employees to embrace attitudinal change as the agency increases its fight against corruption.
Director-General of the agency, Dr. Nasir Muhammad Argungu made this known in Keffi on Thursday at the end of a 3-day workshop organized for the agency’s 19 procurement officers with the theme: ‘Enhancing Public Procurement Compliance: Techniques, Tools and Best Practices’.
Argungu who was represented by the Head of Procurement Department, Aliyu Abubakar said that the agency is embracing President Buhari’s fight against corruption.
“As you are all aware, the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has zero-tolerance for corruption. We are going to replicate the same here. This will entail a grasp of trends and keying into the current digitalization of processes for greater transparency and accountability.
“The results are greater output, effectiveness, and efficiency in our operations. This has led to the training and empowerment of youths and women at the cost of over N1.2 million. We have also procured staff buses that run free office shuttle for our staff that we believe will lead to high morale-boosting and motivation, this is in addition to salvaging our decaying infrastructure and training facilities across the nation,” he noted.
Earlier in his address, Henry Airiohuodion, the Agency’s Deputy Director, Procurement said that it is the culture of NDE to train its staff for efficiency, hence the need for the workshop.
