Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has engaged the new leadership of the World Bank in Nigeria in an effort to attract more development interventions for the state.

In a meeting held at the World Bank office, Governor Yusuf met with the bank’s Country Director, Dr. Ndiamé Diop and other senior officials to discuss strengthening partnerships across key sectors.

A statement issued on Wednesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Bature Dawakin Tofa highlighted that discussions focused on expanding cooperation in health, education, climate change, governance, human capital development, agriculture, ease of doing business, and women’s economic empowerment.

Governor Yusuf at the meeting reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and the effective utilisation of resources, ensuring that World Bank-supported programmes yield maximum impact for the people of Kano.

In response, Dr. Diop acknowledged Kano’s strategic role in the implementation of the World Bank’s initiatives and emphasised the numerous opportunities the state could leverage for sustainable economic and social development.
