A civic group in Zamfara State, the Concerned Citizens of Zamfara, has commended the Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle, for their strategic leadership in tackling insecurity in the region.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the group’s Secretary, Kabir Lawal, highlighted the critical role played Matawalle in strengthening military operations against banditry.

“Special commendation must be given to Dr Matawalle, whose strategic guidance has been instrumental in supporting the ongoing operations,” Lawal said.

“The Minister Bello Matawalle has strengthened the military’s resolve and provided the necessary framework for success.”

The security forces, under his leadership, have intensified operations against armed groups in Zamfara, reportedly dealing a significant blow to bandit networks.

The statement noted that despite the lack of support from the state governor, Dauda Lawal Dare, the military has made remarkable progress in curbing insecurity.

Recent operations have resulted in the elimination of several high-profile bandits linked to notorious leader Bello Turji. Among those killed were Sani Mai Nasara, Sani Black, Kachalla Auta, Kabiru Jan Geru, and Audu Gajere.

The group acknowledged the sacrifices made by security personnel, describing their efforts as a testament to the government’s commitment to restoring peace.

“This success demonstrates that with proper planning, determination, and strategic action, the battle against insecurity can be won,” the statement added.
