The Federal Parastatals & Private Sector Pensioners Association (FEPPPAN), railway sector, has called on Nigerian Railway Corporation Pensioners not to either recognise or attend meetings convened by a union under the aegis of Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP) as all retirees of federal government and private sector are now under the umbrella of the association.
This is coming as the federal ministry of Labour and Employment, in a letter dated September 14, 2022 and made available to NATIONAL ECONOMY decried the refusal of Nigerian Union of Pensioners(NUP) to respect and comply with the jurisdictional scope of the two newly registered trade unions for pensioners under the Defined Pension Scheme.
National chairman of FEPPPA Alhaji Salami Ojo, enjoined members not to pay dues and attend any meeting called by Nigerian Union of Pensioners(NUP).
Lagos district chairman of the association, Comrade Sule Mohammed, also said that members should be careful so as not to be deceived by people parading themselves as union representatives of railway pensioners.
According to the letter, signed by permanent secretary, federal ministry of labour and employment, Dr. Yerima Tarfa, the Electricity Sector, Nigerian Railway Corporation Research Institutions, Federal Teaching Hospitals, amongst others under the defined pension scheme are expected to be organised by FEPPPAN and their check-off dues automatically deducted at source and paid to the association.
