Group Establishes Mental Health Clubs In FCT Schools

Secure D-Future International Initiative (SDF) has established mental health clubs in Seven schools with over 700 members.

Disclosing this at the inauguration of the Mental Health Club and handing over flag ceremony at Government Secondary School (GSS), in Kabusa, Abuja, the Human Resource Manager, Secure D-Future International Initiative, Mrs. Chinemere Iwuanyanwu, noted that the initiative aims at infusing into the minds of students, how to react mentally to situations and circumstances around them, hereby birthing the expansion.

According to her, the students’ mental wellbeing must be a priority to parents, guardians and teachers, adding that mental health clubs should support opportunities where discussions will be heard so as to fight cases that wants to destabilise the mental strength of students.

Also, Matron of the school, Mrs. Chinedu Udoh, explained that the students must be enabled to feel free both in school and at home to achieve that stable mental health.

She stated that there should not be space for intimidation or to things that will affect their mental health, academics and social life with other students.

Commenting at the event, she said, “I’m impressed seeing the students happy with this initiative because, we’ve had other clubs in the past but, no mental health club. I’m so grateful and I appreciate.”

Judith Nwankwo was made the president of the club, along with three other student executives.
