The Maradun Youth Concern Citizens (MYCC) has commended Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, for securing Federal Government approval for a ₦2.250 billion hospital project in Maradun, Zamfara State.

Comrade Ahmad Muhammad, the convener of MYCC, described the project as a transformative initiative to address the region’s longstanding healthcare challenges.

The contract, awarded to Messrs Century Information Systems Limited, covers ₦1.3 billion for construction, ₦208.8 million for furnishing, and ₦500 million for advanced medical equipment.

The project is scheduled for completion within 18 months and is expected to significantly enhance healthcare services for residents.

Dr. Matawalle has also focused on improving security in Maradun. He directed security agencies to clear previously inaccessible roads, ensuring safer travel and boosting economic and social connectivity. These efforts aim to restore public confidence in the region’s transportation network.

In addition, the Minister announced plans to establish a naval force in Maradun to bolster regional security.

The initiative, pending state government approval, would deploy over 1,200 naval officers equipped with advanced military resources. Once operational, the naval base is expected to enhance security and promote lasting stability in the area.

The MYCC applauded the hospital project as a testament to Dr. Matawalle’s commitment to his constituents’ welfare.

Comrade Muhammad also credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the project, emphasizing the Federal Government’s commitment to equitable development in underserved areas.

The group further highlighted Dr. Matawalle’s contributions to federal projects in Zamfara, including major highway construction, enhanced security programs, and plans for a naval base at Bakalori Dam. These efforts reflect a comprehensive strategy to address the region’s infrastructural and security needs.

Muhammad described the hospital project as a “beacon of hope” for the people of Maradun and Zamfara State. He called on stakeholders to support the initiative, emphasizing its potential to transform the region’s socio-economic landscape.
