One of West Africa’s leading Corporate & Strategic Communications Executives, O’tega Ogra’s career has spanned international development, financial services and manufacturing in almost one and half decades. Widely regarded and respected as one of the best crisis managers/communications executives in the industry, his committment to excellence and his exploits in the field of brand, marketing, and communications speak for itself.
He started his career with the German Agency for International Development (GIZ)/FGN Multisectoral Women Empowerment Programme in North East Nigeria as a Field Officer for HIV/AIDS & Reproductive Health managing 5 projects related to HIV/AIDS & Reproductive Health, Planned Parenthood, Girl-Child Education, and Access to Justice for Women & Children. He was later to join GTBank in 2008.His contribution was critical to positioning the bank for the age of youth and digital marketing through initiatives such as Ndani, GTcrea8, and setting up the GTBank social media platforms in 2009. At 24, he became the youngest ever to lead the Corporate Communications function in the banking industry when he joined Wema Bank – a role in which he successfully led the Bank’s rebranding programme which was completed in May 2015.
O’tega is currently the Group Head of Corporate Communications in one of Africa’s largest conglomerates – BUA Group with the key responsibility for charting a corporate communications, brand management, marketing, CSR, crisis & reputation management strategy for the Group and its subsidiaries.
With a degree in Public Health from Babcock University, O’tega regularly volunteers his time and resources to various causes. He sits on the board of the PhotoWaka Africa Community and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (UK) and the International Association of Business Communicators. He speaks at various fora and consults regularly for individuals and corporates in the luxury brands and public affairs space.
