The Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Muhammed Matawalle, has described the visit of the Barcelona FC Legends to Nigeria as a clear indication of the country’s progress in restoring peace, security, and stability.

Matawalle stated this in Abuja on Friday in a statement issued by his Personal Assistant on Media, Ahmad Dan-Wudil.

According to him, the decision of the football icons to visit Nigeria reflects the confidence of the international community in the Federal Government’s efforts to curb insecurity nationwide.

“The decision of the Barcelona FC Legends to visit Nigeria today is a clear testament to the tremendous strides our nation has made in restoring security and stability,” the minister said.

He added that the visit shows that Nigeria is once again becoming an attractive destination for international engagements, thanks to the sacrifices of the Armed Forces and other security agencies.

“The charity match demonstrates the successes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in restoring peace and ensuring a conducive environment for international events,” Matawalle added.

The Barcelona Legends are in Nigeria for a charity football match against African Football Legends scheduled for Saturday, 25th October 2025, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

While welcoming the visiting team, Matawalle extended warm greetings on behalf of the Federal Government and the Nigerian people, wishing them a pleasant and memorable stay in the country.
