The Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle , concluded a six-day visit to Zamfara State, bringing much-needed relief and hope to communities grappling with economic hardship.
In a statement released on Thursday by the Zamfara APC Akida (ZAA) through its Publicity Secretary, Comrade Abdullahi Kurya, the visit was described as a “milestone” in addressing the region’s pressing challenges and reaffirming the federal government’s commitment to underserved areas.
“The visit,in accompanied by senator Abdul Aziz Yari, marked by impactful engagements and life-changing interventions, underscores the federal government’s dedication to alleviating poverty and addressing the needs of the people,” Kurya said.
Spanning three days each in Gusau and Maradun, the ministerial delegation distributed critical palliatives designed to mitigate the economic hardship endured by the people.
These interventions, Kurya noted, provided immediate relief and sparked gratitude and optimism within affected communities.
“This visit highlights the stark contrast between past challenges and the new era of hope ushered in under the current administration,” the statement continued.
The statement also drew attention to the federal government’s efforts to uplift conflict-affected regions like Zamfara.
It cited the dualisation of the Zaria-Sokoto Road as a flagship project under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, showcasing its commitment to infrastructure and economic development in the North West.
“The ongoing dualisation of the Zaria-Sokoto Road is a testament to the administration’s dedication to enhancing connectivity and boosting economic activities in the region,” Kurya added.
Zamfara, which had faced significant governance and security challenges under previous administrations, is now witnessing a turnaround under current leadership.
Residents have expressed appreciation for the federal government’s renewed focus on the region. Their jubilant reception of the delegation was described as a reflection of the optimism and confidence inspired by the interventions.
“The recent visit is a clear indication of the administration’s resolve to address pressing challenges, uplift communities, and ensure that no Nigerian is left behind,” Kurya said.
The group also offered prayers for the Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, and Senator Abdulaziz Yari, for their safe return to their destination.
