In a strategic move, Microsoft has partnered with Nigeria’s Tech4Dev, a non-profit social enterprise, to bridge the unemployment gap in Africa.
This collaboration aims to employ 100,000 young Africans through Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) over the next seven years. Tech4Dev’s social enterprise, Taltrix, will play a crucial role in creating employment opportunities for individuals undergoing training.
Microsoft’s Country Director for Nigeria and Ghana, Mrs. Ola Williams, emphasized the need to move beyond training and actively create job opportunities for the growing number of skilled individuals. Taltrix, with its infrastructure across 14 cities in Nigeria, aspires to directly employ 100,000 people over the next seven years, starting from Nigeria and expanding across Africa.
Joel Ogunsola, Taltrix CEO, expressed the belief that the outsourcing sector has the potential to become a $200 billion industry on the continent. The partnership aims to empower graduates with decent jobs, reduce unemployment, and drive economic growth, contributing to a brighter future for Africa.
This initiative aligns with Microsoft’s mission to empower individuals and organizations while addressing the pressing issue of unemployment through strategic collaborations.
