The Managing Director of the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation, Hon Yazeed Shehu Danfulani, has received the 2025 Nigeria Media Nite-Out Award for Excellence in Agricultural Risk Management and Rural Development.
The honour, presented in Lagos before journalists, policymakers and industry leaders, recognises his leadership in strengthening agricultural risk protection nationwide.
Danfulani, represented by NAIC’s Head of Agric Service, Mr Danladi Mato, dedicated the award to Nigerian farmers and the corporation’s workforce. He said the recognition reflects a growing appreciation of agriculture’s role in stabilising the economy.
Mato noted that food security must remain a national priority, especially with the pressures of climate change, rising production risks and population growth.
He said NAIC had expanded insurance coverage, encouraged modern farming practices and provided financial buffers for farmers affected by floods, drought and pests.
He added that safeguarding food supply requires coordinated action across insurance, technology, infrastructure and government support.
According to him, NAIC will continue to partner with stakeholders to mitigate risks and strengthen the sector.
Organisers of the award praised Danfulani’s contributions to agricultural development and his push for policies that protect farmers and enhance national resilience.
Danfulani’s representatives at the event included NAIC’s Corporate Affairs Manager, Dr Lawal Umar Maradun, and the Lagos Branch Manager, Mr Titiloye Oyato.
