Foreign based Akwa Ibom entrepreneurs, have teamed up with their home- based counterparts to launch a world-class investment group for profit potential and development impact.
The group is Registered as Akwa Global Investment (AGI) LLC USA, but known in Nigeria as Akwa Global Investment Limited, Nigeria.
“Your determination to come together as a team to sow the seed that established these two business entities highlights the spirit of collaboration and a focus towards a common purpose,” said Dr. Emmanuel Umoh, the group’s chief executive officer, last Saturday, during a virtual ceremony marking the official inauguration of AGI.
“It was because of this shared purpose that many of you decided to spend hours in conference calls in order to lay a business foundation that integrated both our culture and compatible business strategies.”
“With this, you helped create a business platform so that we can deliver transformative values for the people of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, ” he said.
A former National President of Akwa Ibom State Association of Nigeria (AKISAN), Dr. Umoh, is a project management team member of the Thompson & Grace Investment Limited, which recently partnered with the University of Hamburg, UKE, Germany, to set up a medical university in Afaha Obong, Abak, Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria.
“As your CEO, business strategy development and talent strategy will be my immediate focus,” Dr. Umoh assured his fellow investors at the event, which was attended by leading personalities, including Dr. Enobong Umoessien of ECOWAS, Pastor Ubong Essien, Dr. Tom Mbeke-Ekanem, Dr. Maurice Asuquo, Engr. Mayen Adetiba, and Mrs. Iquo Archibong, among others.
“These two are essential so that AGI can research and position its capability statement based on our core competencies, and our capacity to deliver on specific products or services. For these reasons, the management team will begin work immediately towards some of the house-keeping activities such as creating communication platform for the management team,” Dr. Umoh averred.
During its launching, the group also adopted a basic corporate structure for its day to day operations, consisting of a board of directors and the management team.
Following the election of the AGI Board of directors, Dr. Tom Mbeke-Ekanem, who emerged as chairman of the maiden Board, said, “our vision is to relentlessly encourage Akwa Ibomites globally to invest in Akwa Ibom State to grow the economic base.”
“To this end, our mission shall focus on transforming problems to products or services with beneficial value to the people.”
“AGI business purpose shall be to deliver innovative business solutions to customers world-wide, leveraging on our capabilities in Funding, Generating or Commercialising innovations regardless of size. This concept might seem new, but that is why we are blazing the trail,” he said.
