The United States of America is the biggest economy in the world followed by China. The US economic power makes it the policeman of the world. Their strategic expenditure profile over the years makes it the most powerful nation on the planet. Serially, every sitting US President is the most powerful President in the world due to the sheer size of the military arsenal at his disposal. President Donald Trump is not the regular kind of guy sitting in the Oval office. His background is steeped in show business and real estate in the US. It has been said by his fierce critics that he is a schizophrenic time bomb with bipolar tendency because with him, you may never know what he can do on the local or international scene at any time. He has polarised and divided the US into racial lines. His gender bias tendencies is legendary. His racial profiling of the African American and Asian communities in the US will become a block vote-against-Trump in the upcoming race to the White House in November between himself and Joe Biden, former Vice President to Barack Obama in their 8 years occupation of the White House. The mismanagement of the seismic COVID-19 epidemic that has literally made the US cities the epicentre of the virus is not going down well with Americans. The death toll from the epidemic in the US is in excess of 160,000 making it the worst in US history. This death toll would affect the outcome of the November elections one way or the other.
Russia’s Vladimir Putin and China’s President Xi Jiping are stumping on each other to give the Republicans and Democrats the winning edge in November. While it is alleged that the Russians provided a winning boost for Donald Trump’s victory over Hillary Rohdam Clinton in 2016, the centre can not hold anymore in the US – China relationship as a result of Trump’s accusatory hauls at China on the origin of the COVID-19 epidemic. The 2 most powerful nations in the world have shutdown each other’s Missions in Washington and China over the corona virus stalemate. Meanwhile, while Donald Trump has been busy chasing rats in the White House and alienating most countries of the world, China’s Xi Jiping is having a strong economic forays into the African continent.
China’s at the forefront of debt drive in Africa. The aggressive Asian nation with the largest population in the world has given African countries loans in excess $152 billion between 2000 and 2018. With this pinpoint strategic economic and sociopolitical investment in Africa, The US maybe stuttering behind China in the control of the sole of Africa in an era that Trump refers to African homes as “SHIT HOLES”. With the psychological warfare between this 2 nations, my assessment and predictions for November is that it will take an earth shaking earthquake for Trump to win the white House in November.
Most races to the White House are mostly won and lost on the choices the Republicans and Democrats make in their choices for the Vice Presidential Candidates. Donald Trump is assuredly going with Vice President Mike Pence while the Presumptive Democratic Nominee, Joe Biden kept to his words of nominating a woman of colour to the Vice Presidential slot by handing over the position to Senator Kamala Harris, a former top state prosecutor in California. While the Republican Vice President Mike Pence remains his damper self calculating his surreal steps behind Trump in the November Presidential elections, kamala Harris brings a robust law and order career record that will help Biden steer a tricky, centrist line between BLACK LIVES MATTER protesters and white Americans who worry about the defunding of the Police department. Joe Biden picked a powerful intellectual woman of colour who can appeal to the African American voters who make up the Biden’s base of support and serves as a fierce critic and attack dog to Donald J. Trump’s record in office.
Picking who competed with Joe Biden during the Presidential primaries with strong attacks memorably on race during one of the debates shows a certain degree of fearless self-confidence that is actually quite rare amongst the top political class. Biden actually faced a tremendous amount of pressure to pick a black woman after the death of Jimmy Floyd under the knee of a Minneapolis police officer triggered nationwide protests over racial inequality. The appointment of Kamala Harris fulfills Biden’s pledge to name a woman and responds to the expectation that he would pick the first woman of colour ever to serve on a national ticket. Biden possibly realised that the Donald Trump’s victory came as a result of the tepid turnout of black voters in 2016 against Hillary Clinton in her race against Donald Trump.
Harris is a charismatic and telegenic political Leader. As an experienced and proactive US Senator and recent Presidential Candidate, Harris also meets another test for Biden. She is highly rated by voters in the country as one the most qualified candidates to be president from Day One. This is also a key positive, given that Biden’s potentially the oldest politician to ever serve as President in the US. Harris is also familiar with the maelstrom of a national campaign having spent a year running for President.
One of the major tasks of a running mate is to play a leading role in bringing the case against the other ticket particularly in the Vice Presidential debate. As an experienced former prosecutor, Harris is well known as a fierce interrogator on Capitol Hill and has proved herself as a sharp debater during the campaign. Biden knows this well. He famously became her prime target in the ,first primary debate 14 months ago when she theatrically confronted him over his position on the mandatory school busing in the 1970s. That exchange in which Harris played up her experience as a child who benefited from busing, briefly catapulted her to the top ladder of candidates in the national polling. This theatrics could have opended Joe Biden’s campaign project. She may not seem the most comfortable fit as a governing partner, a quality Biden craved for, Harris was viewed as the safest pick to win in November. By naming her, Biden has probably set up the dynamics for the 2024 elections, not just the current election. The former Vice President has not said anything about standing down after only one term, but given the facts that he would be 81 by the next election circle, it is widely assumed that he would not run.
This would place Harris in not only a historic but a historically challenging position if the Biden-Harris ticket wins in November. She would be immediately installed as the heir apparent and putative frontrunner for the Democratic Presidential nomination four years from now. This will place her on a political dart board for the Republican multimedia machine seeking to inflict maximum collateral damage on the standard bearer they may face on the ballot in 2024. It will also challenge her to balance her unalloyed loyalty and support as a President and candidate-in-waiting.
How this selection plays out during the next week and during the upcoming Democratic National Convention will define the personality of of the Democratic ticket in November’s election. President Trump’s probably burrowed in a section of the White House with the Republican attack dogs planning their harsh response to the Democratic party’s nomination of Kamala Harris. I cannot wait for Trump’s lethal Twitter storm over the weekend on the subject. The Democrats have taken a huge step forward in this race to the White House by the choice Biden has made. The choice of a running mate is one of the first big decisions that the public gets to see a Presidential Candidate makes. Sometimes candidates make a disastrous error of judgement in their choice of Vice Presidential nominees. Late Senator John McCain took a blighted political risk in 2008 when he picked calamitous Sarah Palin who proved to be a complete embarrassment and disaster to the ticket. Walter Mondale took a faultering steep steps by choosing Geraldine Ferraro. In both cases, the selection ended up as surprises that did not play out well with the voters. In 2000, George W. Bush picked an older adviser in Dick Chesney who served in his father’s administration. Bush had actually tapped him to lead the Vice president search. The choice telegraphed that Bush the son would draw from his father’s coterie of Advisers and served to reassure the older Republicans who were uneasy with Bush Junior’s youthfulness. George H.W. Bush had picked Indiana Senator Dan Quale who drew criticisms as lacking in sufficient executive experience and whose tenure was marked by Vegas circuise comic strip. In 1960, a young John F. Kennedy selected Lyndon Johnson from Texas who was the Senate Majority Leader at the time. The pick helped to bring voters and the southwest that turned out to be critical to the Kennedy’s election.
Joe Biden is 77 years old. His age has been visible in campaign trails across the country before the pandemic shutdown. He has occasionally stumbled over his words, leading to speculation about his mental decline although he suffers from a lifelong speech impediments. President Trump has regularly picked up on the perceived weakness and regularly belitles Biden as sleepy Joe in his tweets.
Harris is 55 and has demonstrated a solid legal mind in questioning witnesses appearing before Senate committees, notably Attorney General, William Barr whom she grilled about whether President Trump instructed him to pursue political prosecutions as the nation’s law enforcement Tzar. Harris demonstrated capacity to occupy a solid prosecutorial persona needed for this potentially highest level of governance in America. Kamala Harris, given her professional pedigree and background and her performance in the Senate has a notorious fierce reputation as a ferocious attack dog. Ask Joe Biden.
Joe Biden is an outgoing and accommodating personality with the capacity to unite America for better outlook of America to the rest of the world. Working with an experienced Vice Presidential Candidate in kamala Harris will definitely take America out of the K-Leg AMERICA FIRST conundrum Trump dumped the greatest powerful nation on earth into. No nation practices protectionism and survives it. The United Kingdom pulled out of the European Union due to inexperience of the Prime Minister. Today, UK’s unemployment rate has gone to the roof. The duo of Biden and Harris would certainly pull the US Out of the present economic and health crises largely caused by the unfortunate mismanagement of the covid-19 crises. No wonder that Dr. Fauci of the American CDC remains more popular than Donald Trump in the National opinion polls.
