The executive committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has extended the tenure of the current boards of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Nigeria National League (NNL), and the Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO) until the end of the current NFF administration led by Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON).
The tenure of the present NFF Board will conclude on 29 September, 2026, having assumed office on 30 September 2022.
As a result of this decision, the boards of the NPFL, NNL, and NLO, chaired by Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, Chief George Aluo, and Mr Silas Ali Agara respectively, will remain in office until 29 September 2026.
The NFF executive committee, in a statement by the director communication, Dr Ademola Olajire, commended the efforts of each of the three boards over the past two years and urged them to invest even greater efforts into providing better-packaged and more appealing leagues that football managers and stakeholders within the country and across the continent can take pride in, while committing to continuous introspection and innovation for the benefit of the game.

However, the NFF board has postponed the decision regarding the board of the Nigeria Women Football League, headed by Ms Nkechi Nneka Obi, to a later date. The tenure of the league boards, established on 1 July 2023 with a two-year mandate, ended on Monday, 30 June 2025.
