The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has introduced an innovative solution to validate the authenticity of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificates.
Yusuf Kashafu, the Director-General of NITDA, unveiled this groundbreaking initiative during his keynote address at the policy dialogue for the implementation of the National Blockchains. The event, themed:”Driving Sustainable Economic Growth and Development through the Adoption of Blockchain Technology,” was organised by NITDA in partnership with the Stakeholders in Blockchain Technology Association of Nigeria (SiBAN), held in Lagos.
Kashafu highlighted the longstanding concern over the legitimacy of NYSC certificates, plagued by widespread instances of forgery and fraudulent issuance. He underscored that this novel approach aims to bolster the integrity and credibility of NYSC certificates, ultimately fostering transparency and trust throughout the certification process.
“We acknowledge the pressing need to address the pervasive issue of counterfeit NYSC certificates in Nigeria. By harnessing the capabilities of blockchain technology, our goal is to establish a secure and tamper-proof system that enables individuals, institutions, and employers to effortlessly authenticate the genuineness of NYSC certificates,” he emphasised.
