NLO/Ikukuoma Super Cup: Campos FC Denies Palm Syrup 2nd round ticket

Palm Syrup were denied the chance from becoming the first team to qualify to the second round of Nationwide League One/Ikukuoma Super Cup, after they were stunned 2-1 by Campos FC on MatchDay 2.

Palm Syrup who had topped Group B after a comfortable win against Paul E on MatchDay 1, were handed a reality check after Campos FC took the lead in the 35th minute.

Inside a pack full Uboma Secondary School Stadium Complex, in Ihitte/Uboma LGA, Tenderson Prince curled home a sensational free kick from the edge of the box for the first goal of the game.

The lead only lasted for three minutes as Palm Syrup FC came back into the game via a cool finish from Jonah Elisha to square things up at 1-1 going into halftime.

Campos FC got what became the match-winner in the 78th minute as went in front again, after Emeka Okoro beat his marker, drives into the box to chip the ball beyond the reach of Palm Syrup goalkeeper into the net for a second goal ended 2-1.

In the other three MatchDay 2 fixtures, Vandrezzer Academy lost 1-2 to Zeal Minds FC with goals coming from the duo of Joshua Ogoche and Ngbede Moses in the 7th and 72nd minute for Zeal Minds.

Paul Edeh in the 90th minute then pulled one back for Vandrezzer Academy through a powerful header off a set piece. 

A first 3 points for Dohz Academy, as its game against Discovery Academy ended in a 5-goal thriller.

It was a bad day in the office for Summer FC who drew 3-3 with Ave FC on MatchDay 1, as they lost by a lone goal to Golden Albium.

The last game of MatchDay 2 ended 3-1 in favor of Divine Praise FC against Jaguar FC. 

Divine Praise hit the ground running scoring three goals within 50 minutes with goals from Ignatius Chilem, Adekunle Kehinde, and Nwaobisa Onyebuchi in the 4th, 35th, and 50th minutes.

Jaguar FC however got a consultation goal courtesy of a strike by Anyaegbunam Pacian from a scramble.
