North East Governors To Meet In Gombe

Governors of the North-east states of Gombe, Bauchi, Adamawa, Yobe, Taraba and Borno, will be holding a crucial meeting in Gombe State today, where issues of common interests are expected to be discussed.

The meeting to be hosted by Gombe State governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, will among other issues, discuss regional challenges, security, economy, and infrastructure.

 

Also on the agenda, is the discovery of hydrocarbon deposits in the North-east, prospects, and problems of power generation and the role of Discos.

The governors will receive a presentation from the North East Development Commission ( NEDC), on exploring the potential of the commission for infrastructure and human capital development of the sub-region.

The one-day meeting is expected to set the stage for regular engagement and consultation among governors in the region.

At the end of the meeting, the governors will issue a communique outlining areas of common interest and agreements among the 6 northeastern states.
