A group, Akoko Youth and Women Assembly (AYWA) has endorsed the All Progressives Congress(APC) 2016 primary election runner-up, Dr Olusegun Abraham, as its candidate for the October 10 governorship election in Ondo state.
The State Chairman of the group, Hon Adewumi Arowolo, dropped the hint during their monthly meeting in Akure where he extolled the virtues of Abraham and listed his several achievements which have brought hundreds of families out of extreme poverty.
According to him, “We are grateful to Abraham for the multi-million naira scholarships he has been giving to our children in Ondo North Senatorial Districts and most especially in Akoko land for the past 20 years despite the fact that he has been doing it from his hard-earned income.
“We are the happiest people today because the majority of the students he trained to university level are now medical doctors, Engineers, Architects, Senior Civil Servants, etc. From all indications, he has proved to us that education is the best legacy.”
Arowolo also called on the traditional rulers, market women, artisans, civil servants, and the entire people of the State to support the aspiration of Abraham to govern the state.
He noted that the Ikare-Akoko born politician has done so much for the state and he should be considered now that the entire Akoko land has resolved to support him.
His words ” I can boldly say it here that he is the only candidate from Akoko which we have all endorsed and there is nobody contesting against him from our division now.
“We implore him to contest again and assured him that he will be our sole candidate. We have many qualified sons and daughters from Akoko who can rule anywhere in the world successfully but we have begged them to support Dr. Abraham so that he can rescue the state from the current mess we found ourselves and we thank God they all agreed.
As a successful industrialist, businessman, and God-fearing politician, we strongly believe he can do it better.”
The Secretary of the group, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Lawal, in her reaction, condemned the incessant kidnapping in Akoko, Owo, Ose and other parts of the state.
Lawal said the state needed a capable man to stop the menace because the ungodly acts will have adverse effects on the nation’s economy if not properly checked.
