Over 2, 500 People Benefit From NNPC/SPDC Medical Outreach in Yobe

As part of its intervention to the vulnerable, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in partnership with Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) Joint Ventures has conducted free medical assistance to over 2, 500 people in different communities in Yobe State.

The medical outreach, facilitated by Relume Charitable Foundation (RCF) which has healthcare professionals such as Surgeons, Physicians, Nurses, Pharmacists, Clinicians, Anesthesiologists, Nutritionists and was able to reach out to communities in Gadaka, Ngalda, and Garin Goje communities of Fika Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The NNPC/SPDC Joint Venture through RCF has also recruited healthcare professionals from General Hospitals and Primary Health Care Fika so as to accomplish the mission where the professionals provided competent and needed care to the beneficiaries.

The Co-founder of RCF, Prof. Sherri Adeosun, while speaking on the outreach expressed joy that the exercise was able to help hundreds of people within short period.

Prof. Adeosun said, “It is gratifying that RCF was able to accomplish the vision of NNPC/SPDC Joint Venture and most importantly, able to touch the communities are need of medical support due to one form of ailment or the other.”

“Without the support of the over 100 health workers, RCF would not have accomplish this amazing feat. Thanks to Yobe SEMA, Maigoje Foundation and Fika LGA PHC system for helping to identify and address focused-interventions in the audacious terrain.” Prof. Adeosun added.

 

During the medical outreach, 50 cataract surgeries with follow up care were provided, over 200 reading glasses as well as over 1,000 mosquito nets were distributed free of charge while medication on acute and chronic conditions was also carried out to patients free of charge.
