A fintech company, PalmPay Limited, is set to empower 5,000 youths and women in Kano State.

The company’s managing director, Mr Chika Nwosu, who made this known during a courtesy visit to the Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammad Sanusi II, on Wednesday, noted that the empowerment programme is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative in 2025, targeted at women, youths, university students, and NYSC corps members.

He said they were at the palace to seek the Emir’s blessings for the programme.

Nwosu noted that PalmPay Nigeria started operations five years ago and has grown to over 35 million users. The Financial Times has recognised it as the second fastest-growing company in Africa and the fastest-growing FinTech in Africa.

According to him, the company is expanding its impact in Northern Nigeria, especially in Kano; as such, to make financial services more inclusive and accessible, especially to underserved communities, the company would conduct financial literacy training for the targeted groups and also support individuals and female-led micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

“The company seeks the blessing of His Royal Highness before proceeding with the activities in his domain. As part of the women empowerment program, we will launch our pilot initiative in the Fagge local government area. We plan to engage directly with market women there, providing them with practical training and essential tools designed to support and accelerate their business growth,” he said.

In his remarks, Emir Sanusi II thanked Palmpay for the CSR and assured them of the emirate’s support, noting that fintech is a crucial element of the financial system architecture.

He further directed his district heads to give the company all the needed support to ensure the programme’s success.
