One of the campaign support groups for the All Progressives Congress (APC), Grassroot Mobilisation for Asiwaju (GMA), has thrown its weight behind the party’s position on the Senate Presidency and Speakership of the House of Representatives for the 10th National Assembly.

The group’s national president, Aminu Aminu, made this known during a world press conference held Wednesday in Abuja. Aminu emphasised that the organisation stands with the position of the APC and the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, regarding the endorsement of Senator Godswill Akpabio from Akwa Ibom State for the position of Senate President and Hon Tajudeen Abbas from Kaduna State for Speaker of the House of Representatives.

He praised their leadership qualities stating that they have proven themselves to be patriotic and progressive Nigerians who believe in one Nigeria and have contributed immensely to the development of the nation and safeguarding of democracy.

He also called on senators-elect and returned members-elect to rally around Senator Akpabio and Hon Tajudeen as the leaders of the two chambers of the 10th National Assembly and urged the national leadership of the APC and the president-elect to appoint experienced, detribalised, incorruptible, patriotic individuals who have Nigeria at heart to propel the country to greatness.

He said as active members of the APC, who contributed to the party’s victory in the February and March 2023 elections, GMA wants Nigerians to support the incoming government to succeed, adding that the group had purchased three vehicles for campaign activities, built an office, and trained and empowered over 5,000 young Nigerians, school teachers, and other vulnerable groups.

He appealed to Nigerians to look beyond their ethnic, regional, and religious differences and support the incoming government, noting that the president-elect took his time to identify those who would complement the efforts of his government to deliver the dividends of democracy to Nigerians, adding that it is the duty of citizens to stand by him and provide support.

He reiterated the group’s commitment to the APC and the president-elect’s vision for Nigeria, adding that the organisation remains optimistic that the incoming government will deliver on its promises to move the nation forward.
