The Rivers State Government and the Nigerian Content Development Monitoring Board (NCDMB), have initiated plans to partner in order to boost technical and vocational education in Rivers State.
To achieve this, NCDMB officials led by the General Manager, Capacity Building, Dr. Ama Ikuru, yesterday met with the Rivers State Commissioner for Education, Professor Kaniye Ebeku.
The officials also visited the Port Harcourt Technical and Vocational Centre for inspection of its facilities.
Speaking during the meeting with Ebeku in Port Harcourt, Ikuru, disclosed that the collaboration is designed to support what the state government is doing in technical and vocational education.
He revealed that the NCDMB intends to train teachers of vocational education and construct and equip some facilities in the Government technical College, Port Harcourt.
Receiving the NCDMB officials in his office, the Rivers State Commissioner for Education, Professor Kaniye Ebeku,
commended the agency on the  proposed collaboration with the Rivers State government
Ebeku emphasized that vocational educational is necessary in human capacity building and building a self-reliant youth.
He noted that the Rivers State government is desirous in partnering with any agency that supports its vision of improving the well-being of the Rivers people.
