Turu Glitz’s presence in the industry has paved the way for the birth of a progressive mindset and rebirth of old-fashioned ideologies among a lot of Nigerian fashion designers.

The brand which is owned by the duo of Joy Chituru Azubuike and Sandra Okiahuwa Omo-Ogun, isn’t only celebrating the essence of being African, but is also showing how dynamic partnerships between women can see them rewrite the narrative and influence art in a sophisticated manner. The co-founders who function as the Creative Director and Head of Design respectively have become a force to be reckoned with in the city of Porthacourt. Aside from their varying technical abilities, it is intriguing to see that the leadership style of the command has motivated their staff to show more dedication to the brand’s vision. Moreover, their different skill set complements each other adequately.

Joy and Sandra’s partnership is never in the decline of new perspectives. Their creative synergy has been the source of numerous innovative and inclusive designs. Turu Glitz in the past years have launched a couple of collections and served a growing clientele. Furthermore, they have created an intern program that allows them to impact upcoming designers. These milestones when carefully considered stem from the duo’s successful collaboration. They delegate specific duties to fit each other’s strengths and work as a team to make up for each other’s inadequacies. They shared how working together has been integral to many experimentations which have in turn led to the discovery of ideas for urban trends. They also disclosed on one of their live streams on social media that growing the brand from the art and business angle has been easier because of their respective experiences.

This is a testament that women-led businesses are setting new standards. For Turu Glitz’s success, Joy and Sandra have developed a working strategy that infuses the use of ICT into fashion designs for aesthetic purposes. Also, their diversity as women from different cultural backgrounds has brought about some artistic exclusivity in their partnership. An interesting fact is how they have also chosen to celebrate and empower women by employing young women who offer different experiences and perspectives to the brand. Turu Glitz’s vision to have a brand that celebrates cultural diversity through fashion is deeply rooted in inevitable growth. There is no doubt that they are breaking barriers against inclusivity and challenging the stereotypes within the fashion industry, for more women designer’s representation at the fore.

It is delighting to see that the collaborative spirit between this duo has allowed for creative innovation, and empowerment of future generations, and contributes greatly to the diversity within the industry. Turu Glitz co-owners should be celebrated and supported. This is an inspiring partnership, and we relish seeing more women forming teams to break boundaries and rewrite the narrative.
