Tourists, Business Travelers Ditch Traditional Hotels For Luxury Apartment Stays

Business travelers in Lagos are shifting their accommodation preferences, increasingly choosing luxury apartment hotels over traditional hotels as they seek greater comfort, flexibility, and a more personalised stay.
According to the MO report, Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) recorded approximately 550,000 inbound passengers between November 19 and December 26 last year.
This surge in business and leisure travel has fueled significant growth within the hospitality industry, particularly in the luxury apartment hotel sector.
For seasoned professionals, the challenge of frequent travel extends beyond packed schedules and jet lag, it’s about finding a space that feels like home.
Traditional hotel rooms, no matter how upscale, often lack the warmth and flexibility of a personal living space. In contrast, luxury apartment hotels offer a fully furnished environment, complete with kitchens, spacious living areas, and high-end amenities, all while maintaining premium hotel services such as housekeeping, concierge, and 24/7 security.
“Many business travelers no longer want to just ‘stay somewhere’, they want to live comfortably even while on the move,” the report stated. “The demand for accommodation that blends work, play, and rest is growing as Lagos cements its position as a global business hub.”
One of the standout luxury apartment hotels redefining the experience is Heliconia Park Lagos, located in Eko Atlantic City. Designed to offer the sophistication of a five-star hotel with the homely feel of a private residence, Heliconia Park provides a seamless balance between business and leisure.
Guests can host meetings in their private living rooms, enjoy high-speed Wi-Fi for remote work, and unwind in an expansive setting rather than being confined to a single-room suite. The property also offers co-working spaces, premium concierge services, and high-end recreational facilities, including a fully equipped gym, tennis courts, and fine dining options.
For those looking to maintain their lifestyle while traveling, Heliconia Park even features an Atelier by renowned Italian stylist Alessandro Martorana, offering bespoke menswear services.
As the demand for more personalised and flexible accommodation grows, luxury apartment hotels like Heliconia Park are setting new standards in business travel.

Frequent travelers often emphasize that accommodation is not just about location but about maintaining a sense of normalcy while on the move. The ability to prepare a familiar meal, unwind in a spacious suite, or stick to a fitness routine significantly enhances their ability to balance work and personal well-being.

In an era where business travel and remote work increasingly overlap, these conveniences are not just luxuries but essential components of a productive and comfortable travel experience.

With Lagos’ business environment expanding rapidly, the shift toward luxury apartment hotels is expected to become a defining trend in the future of corporate travel.
