“For any nation’s defence strategy to succeed, it must integrate technology into every facet of its security apparatus. It is crucial that we harness technology as a ‘force multiplier’ to protect our citizens and safeguard our national interests.”

The minister acknowledged the evolving security landscape, noting the growing threats both within Nigeria’s borders and from external sources.

He lauded the efforts of the country’s Defence Attachés, intelligence officers, and diplomats, commending their role in addressing internal and external security threats.

“Intelligence remains vital to our security strategy,” he stated. “It provides the situational awareness needed by both civilian and military leaders to make informed decisions.”

Matawalle also addressed the ethical considerations of using technology, urging Defence Attachés and security officers to uphold international law in their diplomatic engagements.

He stressed that technology should be used strategically and ethically to protect Nigeria’s sovereignty and enhance diplomatic relations.

The former governor, encouraged all conference participants to remain vigilant and dedicated to their roles, emphasizing the importance of adapting to both national and global dynamics in their work.

Matawalle expressed hope that the conference would produce actionable insights to further improve Nigeria’s security and defence capabilities.
