The 2025 edition of the Zenith Bank Women’s Basketball Premier League commenced on Wednesday at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, with former champions First Bank making a strong start.
First Bank opened their campaign in impressive fashion, defeating the Dolphins 62-48. The First Bank ladies displayed their intent from the outset, showcasing excellent composure and fitness levels. Although the Dolphins put up a commendable fight, First Bank ultimately demonstrated their superiority throughout the match.
In the second game, Bayelsa Blue Whales triumphed over First Deep Water of Lagos with a score of 61-41, enhancing their prospects of reaching the finals in Lagos.
This edition of the Zenith Bank/NBBF Premier League features a total of five teams competing in the historic city. The teams participating are First Bank, Bayelsa Blue Whales, MFM, Dolphins, and First Deep Water of Lagos.
